Mission of the Centre

The development and transfer of knowledge regarding the integrated approach of technical design and manufacturing of industrial products.

The research activities of the Centre are focussed on discrete products, the related manufacturing processes and advanced manufacturing equipment.

The integrated approach addresses:

  • the full product life cycle, including assembly and recycling.
  • manufacturing systems, inspection systems and handling systems.
  • information systems for the design, process and shop floor planning, handling and operations management.
  • advancement of knowledge regarding engineering design, materials and mechanical and physical processes.
Time to market, quality, and flexibility of manufacturing systems are characteristic criteria. Products of the CIPV are methods, prototypes, software, advice, courses and publications.
